Getting use to the routine Day 2

Today was an easy transition day. I think I have the routine down. Breakfast started at 6:30 and I had a full night sleep so I was good to go. We have a daily meditation in the common area of our hall at 7:20 led by an audio file. It’s nice to sit and meditate in a led group. At 7:40 the medication room opens. It is your responsibility. They don’t chase you down for meds you just line up in the hallway and wait your turn. If you miss the window you need to go to the main buildings health wing and get them there but again they don’t chase you down. Wellness group starts at 8:30, basically it’s Phys Ed. I hate physical education and I haven’t checked out the gym yet. I slept through most of this time and read my book. I’ll go for a walk after dinner to make up for it. Walking the grounds is an excepted replacement for the morning work-out but I was still too tired to do it. At 10am we have Lectures. Mr T gave some lecture based on the steps and what the step means. His are short but his voice is still tiring and I want to doze when he speaks. We are supposed to head back to the dorm and do a lecture review with our peers but every one scatters.

At 11:15 lunch starts. You head to this nice cafeteria with friendly servers. The food is quite good too. So far I can’t complain about anything they gave me. Yesterday we had 5 varieties of big chicken wings, falafels, green beans, pretzels with cheese and three salad choices. Today was sweet potatoes, roasted cauliflower, a steak and a choice of three salads. I grabbed the berry salad ( It actually was made with baby spinach, fresh raspberries and blueberries topped with a balsamic vinaigrette. 12pm the “med” door opens again. At 1pm we have another learning group etc. etc. This is the way each day goes. 2pm we have Wellness again and this time the pool opens up for physed, I can deal with water aerobics. Water, sun, yup I’m in for this everyday so that was my big afternoon work out for the day. 4pm the computers get turned on and the phones get their receivers back so we can have outside contact with the world. 4:45 is dinner and it is always amazing like steak, chicken, pizza, burritos. There is no way I will lose weight here. 5:30 are meds again, 6:30 an inhouse AA type meeting and then meds again at 8:15pm. Free time till 11pm. I used my time to run back to a building where I saw a piano. The building was empty and the piano was so beautiful that I sat down and played for awhile. I couldn’t remember much but It felt so relaxing to just run my fingers across the keys and play various chords. I will print out sheet music from the computers tomorrow and try to play more. I forgot how much I loved to hear the keys and the pads hitting the strings. For tonight of course, I will be in bed by 930pm. It’s past midnight back in NY so it is amazing that I am even still up.
