Day two at the lane. Its really a cul-de-sac but everyone calls it a lane. I am optimistically excited and settling into the routine. Breakfast showed up on the kitchen counter at 630 in the morning. Regular eggs, sausage and juice. Nothing spectacular. Anne B. asked me to join her for a walk in the community and I happily accepted. We caught up on who was still left in in-patient and who had gone home, how lonely it had been in the house since the last roommate was still a mere child in attitude and caused so much work that the others stayed in their rooms. She mentioned how glad she was that I was there now. I was happy to have her as my house mate. I would have accepted many of the girls I knew from before but Anne B was a special soul that I knew we would make the best of connections in the smaller living quarters. Well, her living quarters were small, I had the master bedroom with hot tub that I shared with T.S. so we have lots of room.
On the way back I had to pick up an Ipad I would be borrowing from the techs for my daily lectures. I picked up a cup of coffee in their kitchen before I left and again, the rules were given to me about the ipad usage. Rules are rules and I don’t break many of them in general so its good they keep telling me. Keep me out of trouble before I begin.
The lectures started at 9am and went to 3pm. 9:00 to 10:00 would be various topics each day, 10:30 to 12:00 is breakdown groups, lunch 12 to 1 and then again a lecture from 1 to 3pm. After my day was done I went with Anne B to the pool for a quick swim and was met by T.H. and Kerrie. Big hugs all around. I was so happy! Now I knew I was in the right place. Anne B had left for the gym so i stayed and sat around the whirlpool talking about the going on’s of the lane. It was so relaxing to just hang out with them again.
Dinner was served at 6, again it mysteriously appeared on the kitchen counter but I was happy to eat it. I missed lunch and was starved. I went back to the pool and Annie H appeared. She sat on the plastic lawn chair doing needle point and talked with me. She had seen me come in yesterday and wanted to spend time with me before she left tomorrow. I love having so many great friends to hang out with. When I got out to head back to the house she handed me the cutest card with a remembrance bracelet she had made. “Never loose Touch” she choked out as she gave my wet body a big hug. I never will.
